GO!!!!!

I believe we can all agree that it is necessary for us to exercise our bodies for the improvement of health and toning that it brings but we don’t always agree on the methods that should be used to achieve our goals. There are many different ways to exercise such as walking, running, swimming, riding a bike, lifting weights, rock climbing, skiing, rollerblading and much more. Before you begin any exercise program, you should first get a physical from your doctor. This will allow you to determine the point at which you can begin exercising and the type of exercise you can attempt.

Once you’ve visited your doctor, I would not advise jumping up off the couch and trying to run a marathon no matter how motivated you are. For most people the first form of exercise that they will attempt to do is walking. It is a low-impact, gentle, easy form of exercise that is good for people of all ages and abilities and best of all it’s free, but it’s not the only way.

If you are a self-starter and can do things on your own, you can do some research to find out what it takes to participate in the exercise program of your choice, whether it be finding the correct shoes for walking or getting fitted for a bike that best suits your height. Take some time and do it right so that you do not get hurt in the process and end up in worse shape than when you started.

If you are not a do-it-yourself person, don’t let that stop you, there are many places where you can get help. There are personal trainers, you can get a gym membership, you can join the YMCA, you can join an exercise class and so on. Today you have a variety of options.

Whatever you do, get motivated, find a place to start and then commit yourself. Like the Nike ad says, “Just Do It.”.  Ready, on your mark, get set, GO!!!!
