Luke 3:19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
The above passages bring us to the case study for today, because John the Baptist, above all others would naturally, and logically seem to be a prime candidate for God to deliver and the reasons are indeed numerous for it could seem justifiable and a no-brainer, that John, of all men should be delivered.
Luke 3:2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
[The Desire of Ages pp 215] In his mission the Baptist had stood as a fearless reprover of iniquity, both in high places and in low. He had dared to face King Herod with the plain rebuke of sin. He had not counted his life dear unto himself, that he might fulfill his appointed work. And now from his dungeon he watched for the Lion of the tribe of Judah to cast down the pride of the oppressor, and to deliver the poor, and him that cried.
Luke 3:6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. 15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he was the Christ, or not; 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
