Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
What God is teaching us through the experiences of Lot and his wife is that while time still lingers we can go ahead and enjoy, and share with others, the gifts God bestows upon us, in the material things of this life. But, be very, very careful of becoming too attached to them, so that we cannot separate ourselves from them, whenever the time comes, and the time may be coming, sooner rather than later.
The Lord is also teaching us to be totally dependent on Him, for the final conflict, which will usher in the beast’s system of 666, will entirely sever from us the material things of this life, and the support systems that we have all become so accustomed to, over the years. Trusting in God for everything that pertains to life is not something that comes to us overnight like those packages from Amazon.
It takes time, and real living experiences to learn how to let go, and let God. this is an integral part of the Elijah experience, and the message we preach. At the brook Cherith, Elijah trusted in God for all of his needs, and God supplied whatever he needed to survive. It was not only food and water that Elijah had to depend on God for. He also trusted God for his security, his well-being, any medical emergency that may have arisen, and the clothes on his back. All without exception were provided by God.
1st Kings 17:And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. 2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, 3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
