Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
[1] Some will be shaken, because of not being grounded in Christ and the truth.
As the shaking intensifies, there are those who have indulged a sort of tag-along relationship with God, in which their names have been registered on church books, and they have gone through the formalities of religion for years. Yet, some have never brought the eternal truths and principles of the Bible to bear directly on their everyday experiences.
A superficial, intellectual knowledge of the scripture is all that some will allow but when the word of God conflicts with habits and practice, some folks recoil from the self-denial that is necessary in order to facilitate the working of God’s Holy Spirit upon our hearts.
Thus, instead of synthesizing the written word with our everyday experiences, some persons keep the word at bay, not allowing it to sink its roots deep into the conscience to uproot, known and unknown tendencies and propensities to evil. As a result, the syndrome known as “dormant evil” just awaits the right set of circumstances to converge so that it can break out into open sin.
James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
