The First Day Of Creation. 08/16/2014 (Morning thought)

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

This passage of scripture recounts for us the beginnings of our planet, as God called the earth into existence from nothing. All three members of the Godhead were involved in the intricate work of creation, and on the first day God commanded the light to shine out of darkness. It's very important for us to note that the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the fourth day, yet the cycle of day and night continued, for God is the source of all light, and therefore He is not dependent on the sun for any light. Let's read:

1st John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

After the sun and moon were created they were ordained to take over the daily cycle from where God left off, but the greatest light, both spiritually and literally, is still to be found in God, and therefore the sun is, and will remain a secondary source of light for our planet. This sacred truth of God being the foremost source of light is full of instruction for us today, for a substitute form of worship which revolves around the sun has taken deep root in society, and many sincere Christians now consider Sunday to be the official day of rest, even though there is no scriptural authority for this institution. If our worship is governed by the sun, then we are following a secondary source of light, and the greater light which is to be found in God alone cannot shine in its brilliance on our pathway as God intended.

The seventh day Sabbath which God gave to man as the only holy day of rest, points us to the One who created the lesser light, and to all those who follow His example by honoring Him on His holy day of rest, The Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings. That's the reason why God is now calling all sincere and honest-hearted Christians and people everywhere, to follow the greater light by worshiping God on the seventh day Sabbath, for many of us have ignorantly subscribed to sun-worship because of custom and tradition. Christ is the One who said that we shall know the truth, and the truth shall make us free, which implies that erroneous teachings and practices can never emancipate the one who adopts them. Hence the reason why thorough conversion is directly linked in the Bible to the greater light, which by definition means Christ. Let's read:

1st John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which points us to the ultimate source of light, even to our Creator, for those who follow Christ in His teachings and example will ultimately have no need of the sun in the earth made new, for God will be our true source of light forever. Let's read:

Revelation 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

May God be honored in our lives as we worship Him both in spirit and in truth. God bless!
