Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
This passage of scripture contains the formula for prosperity and success in every thing we put our hands and minds to do. The principles of God's kingdom do not make a person destitute neither do they put us at a disadvantage to our fellomen. As is the case with all of the promises of God, there are conditions given that are important catalysts in the fulfillment of each promise, and therefore, if we find ourselves not experiencing the results here spoken of, we should understand that the problems never originate with God. At these times we should rather take a serious introspect look at ourselves to find the reasons why things are not going as they ought to.
Whenever the conditions are fulfilled, the promises will certainly come for God's word is just as certain as the sun rising in the east. This is what was repeated and reiterated to the children of Israel as they were about to take possession of the land of Canaan. Several instructions were given to them, which if they were diligent in following, there could be but only one result, prosperity and success in everything they undertook to do. Let's read:
Deuteronomy 28:12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Deuteronomy 15:4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
In our day there is an unbalanced, over-emphasis on the health/ wealth aspects of the gospel, and for this reason many sincere Christians have harbored and developed an attitude that is averse to any type of prosperity, but this should not be the case, because the distortion of God's words on the part of many should not interfere with the relevance they have for those who truly live by the principles of righteousness outlined in the scriptures.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture that should encourage us to believe the promises of God and begin to implement the instructions given, not merely because the results will be prosperity, but because the laws and statutes given to us are the right thing to do. In other words we should do right because it is right. Let's read:
2nd Chronicles 20:20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
We sincerely hope and pray that the promises of God will find fulfillment in our lives today and forever, for God is faithful to His every word. God bless!
