A Scripture For Everything. Part [7] 05/18/2022 (Evening thought)

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Once the devil realizes that Jesus knows scripture, he abruptly changes his strategies to meet the urgency of the moment. From here on out he would counter Christ with scriptures, which have been strategically selected and modified to suit his own diabolical purposes.

First, he would quote the verses partially, and out of context, to accommodate what he desires, and then he would misinterpret those doctored verses, so as to have them mean what God never intended.

These two strategies are quite often used when a Christian is the target of some temptation, for when unbelievers are to be tempted, there is no need for him to quote scripture, since they are in most cases not familiar with what the word of God says.

Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setts him on a pinnacle of the temple.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
