Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
If Abraham had encouraged doubt, he might have infected his own wife with the same spirit of unbelief and he in turn could’ve made Sarah’s eagerness miserable. It’s critically important for God’s commands and instructions to be viewed through the same spiritual lens, for hesitance and unbelief in one spouse could adversely affect the other.
[P&P pp 161] If Lot himself had manifested no hesitancy to obey the angels’ warning, but had earnestly fled toward the mountains, without one word of pleading or remonstrance, his wife also would have made her escape. The influence of his example would have saved her from the sin that sealed her doom. But his hesitancy and delay caused her to lightly regard the divine warning.
It was an entirely different scenario with Abraham and Sarah because they two were on the same page spiritually, therefore God’s command was received in faith and they made their journey with singleness of heart.
Hebrews 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
