Isaiah 24:4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof.
With the insatiable demand for lumber and farm land for cattle, forests the world over have been cut down with little regard for God’s laws pertaining to replenishing, and the earth has not been allowed to rest, and the profit coming from many such industries has driven individuals and companies to use earth’s resources indiscriminately.
Also, with the onset of the industrial revolution, and our consequent very heavy dependence on fossil fuels, greenhouse gases have skyrocketed and as a result, the thinning of earth’s upper shield has been greatly accelerated. Therefore, the apocalyptic prophecies pertaining to our day were written in the context of what man has mostly done to himself, and not what God is doing to man.
It is never the purpose of God to destroy men’s lives, unless, like those in Noah’s day, the probationary time given has been exhausted. On the contrary, God sent His Son Jesus, to save us from ourselves and our sins, and thus, as a general rule of thumb, most of the calamities, tragedies, and capricious outbreaks of nature are just the natural laws of cause and effect coming into play as a result of our own actions.
Isaiah 24:6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
