2nd Kings 5:9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
Faith without works is dead, and because of this, in the overwhelming majority of cases, there will always be something for us to do in our efforts to cooperate with God in having our prayers answered, no matter how minuscule or insignificant such cooperation may seem to be. God generally does not do for us that which we can do for ourselves, for He has given physical and mental powers that are to be exercised in cooperation with His work.
Those Hebrews who were bitten by fiery serpents, and who prayed for healing, were required to look upon the uplifted serpent, and they would live. Old Naaman was required to dip seven times in the river Jordan in response to his request, or he would not be healed of his leprosy, and the ten lepers who had requested healing had to go show themselves to the priests.
Thus, whenever any prayer requests are made, the very next thing for persons to do is to see where we can cooperate with God in the fulfillment thereof. But to stand still and see the salvation of The Lord, without us raising a finger is not how this stuff generally works.
2nd Kings 5:14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
