Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
There is the dart of disease, the dart of gossiping, the dart of discouragement, the dart of doubt, and the dart of existential threats against one’s life. Then there is the dart of encountering dangerous animals, such as when the apostle Paul was bitten by a poisonous viper as he gathered wood for the bonfire. Of all those who were gathering sticks at that time, it’s the one who was a threat to satan’s kingdom, who was attacked.
And there are also financial darts, by which devils often seek to bring persons to monetary ruin. The Bible tells us that we should not be ignorant of satan’s devices, but with the caution comes the system and the method by which they must be overcome, and that’s always through faith, always! Some people view the instructions given by God as mere “suggestions” to be picked and chosen by the human agent as he or she sees fit.
Others view His laws and instructions as a Thus saith the Lord, and here is where our faith and practice must converge. It is of great concern that we who are living in the 21st century may be permitting our faith to grow dim at a time when it should be shining radiantly, in the midst of great spiritual darkness. If we are truly a peculiar people, then there must be something peculiar about us, and that is the mode of thought and action that is based upon faith in God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
