Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
This passage of scripture depicts to us, Christ, standing at the door of our hearts, and seeking entry through our freedom of choice. He knocks and entreats, but never does He force open the door, for if anyone is to be a partaker of God's salvation, it must be accomplished through a willing heart, and a deliberate decision to open the door and let Him in.
God does not employ the use of force in the salvation of humanity, and although He often sends His servants with messages of mercy, entreaty, and reconciliation, yet the choice to be saved remains with us, and even after we have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives, the very same ongoing decision to serve Him must be made on a daily basis, for to serve God is never a one-time decision, but instead, our loyalties must be renewed each and every day, until the end of life's journey. Let's read:
Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.
However, it is important for us to remember that Christ's knocking at our heart's door does not continue indefinitely, for the time comes when all knocking ceases, if we deliberately continue to resist His gracious overtures to save us. There is a point where it makes no more sense to keep on pleading with the sinner, and then The Holy Spirit is withdrawn, and the voice of God goes forever silent in our consciences.
We are now living dangerously close to that very time, because the evidences and pleadings of Christ with us individually and nationally have been largely ignored, to the point where there are boastful claims now being made against the truths written in the Bible, and for all intents and purposes, the principles of righteousness are now being buried in a maze of philosophies and ideologies that are designed to cultivate lawlessness in those who subscribe to all such teachings.
The philosophy that teaches us non-accountability, and proposes to make us a law unto ourselves, has been widely accepted, both in the secular and professedly Christian worlds, and it is because we have now charted our own set of rules and standards of righteousness, why we are witnessing first-hand, the rapid dissolution of society. Thus the words of Christ which were spoken to the impenitent Jews, will also be spoken to us very soon, because the very same conditions have now obtained, and we are very close to the point of no return, the time when the knocking of Christ will forever cease. Let's read:
Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Whenever we have reached a point in our history, where we presume to cast of the restraints of God's commandments, and go a step further by making institutions and forms of worship that are of our own devising, then we may know for sure that the loving entreaties are soon to cease, and thus, it behooves every one of us to make the best of the remaining moments of probationary time, to avail ourselves of the grace of God which bringeth salvation.
We therefore end with a solemn warning from The Most High God to us individually and nationally, and it is His will that we not harden our hearts as did pharaoh and the antediluvians, to the detriment of our souls. Let's read:
Proverbs 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear what The Spirit saith to us. "Good night" and God bless!
