The law Of God Before Sinai. 08/29/2015 (Morning thought)

Genesis 26:2 And the Lord appeared unto him"... 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee"... "and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

This passage of scripture clearly shows us that the law of God was in existence, long before Sinai, and thus it cannot be restricted only to the Jewish people, since that nation began with Abraham, before whom millions of sinners who had broken God's law, were slain in the waters of the flood. In describing the iniquities of that generation, The Lord calls sin by its right name, and makes mention of the broken precepts which precipitated the deluge of the men of that ill-fated generation. Sin is the transgression of the law, and the antediluvians perished by the flood, on account of their many sins. Let's read:

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Thus it is that we are furnished by God with the clearest evidence that His law was in existence even from eternity, when satan sinned in the heavenly courts, for wherever there is no law, there cannot be any sin. A state trooper cannot stop an individual and just write them a ticket, if there are no traffic laws which designate right from wrong, for he has to state specifically which ordinance or statute was violated, in order for the ticket to have any validity. But he cannot just say that the person did something wrong, because the law must state what doing wrong is.

Hence the reason why the apostle Paul teaches us that by the law is the knowledge of sin, for if Adam was cast out of Eden for doing wrong, then he must have sinned, and he could only have been guilty if God's law was already in existence. The reason why the messages in Revelation chapter 14 may appear to be one-sided, is because in our day, the overwhelming majority of the Christian world have now embraced the theology that proposes a gospel without law, and a Christianity without obedience, both of which are not substantiated anywhere in the Bible, and which will only lead to disappointment and ruin, when it is realized too late, that this is absolutely not the case.

Let us therefore be careful to avoid the fatal sophistries that abound, and if we truly desire to know the truth in these matters, the word of God will shed great light on our pathway, if we study line upon line, and precept upon precept. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which encourages us to meditate day and night on the principles contained in the sacred Ten commandments, for they are not only given for our best temporal and eternal interests, but are also inseparably intertwined in our daily Christian experience, through the effectual working of the Holy Spirit, etching them into our frontal lobes, where the seal of God is to be placed. Let's read:

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
