Reflections On The Elections part (1) 08/26/2015 (Morning thought)

Psalms 75:5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

This passage of scripture cautions the human agent not to speak proudly, nor to boast of one's accomplishments, for as the verses state, promotion to the highest office in the land, comes from the hand of God, and no one else. Now, it is an undeniable fact that God often moves in mysterious ways to accomplish His good purposes, and it is often the case that as Christians, we may not be able to always see His footprints in the sand. The reason for this is that God does not think the way we do, for He brings into the equation, both His omnipotence and His omniscience, so that His movements are sometimes hardly ever traced, even by some of the most devout Christians. Let's read:

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither"... 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

As it stands currently, no one can explain, nor account for the meteoric rise of the front runner in the conservative party, nor can anyone explain why the person in second position is where he now stands, being way ahead of seasoned politicians and senators, even though both of them have never held such offices in their entire lifetime. It is therefore necessary for us to observe that the one who is in first place represents the essence of American capitalism, and the one who is in second place is a Sabbath keeper, a very odd couple indeed.

Question: Could it be that behind the scenes, God is orchestrating developments that would present an antithesis to the messages that are to be the focal points of the pope's message, when he visits next month? For he is scheduled to speak vehemently against capitalism, and he will be vigorously promoting Sunday sacredness, as the solution to our current problems in the financial sector, and the moral abyss in which we now find ourselves.

It is quite possible, that in an effort to stave off the mark of the beast, so that probation may be extended to the inhabitants of earth a little while longer, that God is permitting both a capitalist and a Sabbath keeper to be in first and second place, so that a confrontation of ideologies, principles, and purported solutions, may finally come to the surface, thus bringing the real issues in the final conflict, to the attention of the multitudes.

When it came time for the deliverance of His people from Egyptian bondage, the Lord took the initiative by ordaining the installation of a pharaoh, who would then be used as a catalyst in bringing His people out of slavery. This action of His was no coincidence, and the stubbornness and pride then manifested by the then ruling pharaoh, was all a part of God's greater plan, to bring to pass what was prophesied to Abraham, centuries before. Let's read:

Exodus 3:7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;  8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey"...  10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 9:13 And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. 15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth. 16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

No one knows for sure how the current political climate will affect the events scheduled for next month, and no one knows how soon the final conflict will break upon the unwary masses, for as is stated over and over again in the scriptures, the coming of Christ will be as a thief in the night, and the developments in the secular and religious worlds, will precipitate the final prophetic events, so long looked forward to. It is therefore necessary for us to watch and live in readiness, for however the wind blows, one thing is certain, that the coming of the Son of man is near, even at the doors.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which encourages us to look up, when we see these things coming to pass, for we are indeed living in the last days of earth's history, and the events that are scheduled to take place in short order, will be be used to change the current of everyone's thoughts, to focus on eternal realities, and our final destiny. Let's read:

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

May the Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
