And God Breathe Into His Nostrils. 08/15/2015 (Morning thought)

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

This passage of scripture describes for us the finishing touches of God's creative work, after Adam had been formed from the dust of the ground. When The Lord was forming Adam, all of the angels, including those who had fallen, could see what He was doing, and as they stared intently whilst God was forming the outlines of sinews, bones, veins, and organs, they marveled at the very intricate work. But after God had finished forming Adam, there still was no life in him, and to accomplish this, God breathe into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living, breathing person. This final act of God in the creation of Adam left all of the created intelligences in the dust, for ever since that eventful day, no one has been able to duplicate what God has done. Let's read:

Job 33:4The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Psalm 139:14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

This singular act of God should call forth the praises of all human beings, for try as we might, we cannot produce life from a a lifeless form. A person has been drowned in the water for several hours, and he is pulled out by life guards, and much air is pumped into him, but there is no response, because the spark of life can only be restored by the same God who gave it in the first place. That same creative genius and power is also brought to bear when creating a new man from the old, for whenever we give our lives to Christ, God employs His exclusive power of omnipotence to produce an entirely new person. Let's read:

John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

This is one of the mysteries of salvation that angels and created intelligences long to look into, for it is indeed mind-boggling, that a person like Saul could be changed from hunting down and incarcerating Christians, to being one of the most prolific writers of the Bible. But in our day, there are efforts afoot to diminish both the validity and importance of God's creative, and redemptive work, for modern science has excluded the very concept of God from the equation, and the great work of creation has been surrendered in favor of the empty theory of evolution, by which millions have been turned from The Source of all life, to Darwinian suppositions, and vagaries, to the point where our current educational system is now a mass breeding ground for thousands of skeptics and infidels alike.

But God is now calling the great sea of humanity back to our roots, and in this work, the true Sabbath of the fourth commandment is to play a very critical role, for not only does it explain the origin of our species, but it also shows by whose authority the law of the universe is given, thus drawing a distinct line of differentiation between The Creator and the created. Let us then seek to ever keep in mind that we are created beings, and since we owe our existence to God alone, the honor and reverence that is His due should be rendered by all, with willing hearts and an understanding spirit.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which indeed reiterates this sacred truth, for whenever we worship and praise The God of heaven, it should always be with the spirit and also with the understanding. Let's read:

Psalm 100:1Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.  3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
