1st Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
This passage of scripture teaches us that there is often a disconnect between modern science as we know it, and the plain utterances of scripture, and it is often the case that because we cannot trace the laws of cause and effect in the spiritual realm, that we are prone to disbelieve the word of God, which states that the wages of sin is death. The Bible teaches us that without faith it is impossible to please God, which means that there are certain things God tells us that we would simply have to believe, for in many instances we may not be able to clearly see the direct relation of disobedience to negative circumstances that accrue as a result.
For instance, there is no known science that can connect the simple eating of a fruit, with the death and disease as it took place with Adam and Eve, for they did not die of food poisoning when they ate of the forbidden tree. Adam lived to be nine hundred plus years, and therefore science is at a loss to trace the law of cause and effect in this instance. Again, when Cain killed Abel through jealousy, The Lord declared that his sin would affect the production of fruit and grain, a result that cannot be proved through our modern methods of scientific reasoning and analysis. And thus it becomes extremely difficult for a scientist who believes that everything must be proven in a laboratory first before being accepted, to believe in the science of the Bible, which is based strictly on faith in God's word. Let's read:
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
In our day the science that is being taught in our schools eliminates the God factor, and because of this the warnings given in the scriptures pertaining to the sure results of evil-doing, are often scoffed at by many in the scientific community, as being delusional at best and insane at worst. And it is for this reason why God's sacred laws and institutions are now being trampled in the dust, with no expectation of dire consequences, because as far as science is concerned, there is no connection whatever between disobedience and the many scourges that are upon the land.
It is therefore imperative that as Christians we walk by faith, and not by sight, because the results for certain courses of action that are stated in God's word will be fulfilled in due season, whether science believes it or not. Let us therefore take God's word and His warnings very seriously, for the spiritual laws of cause and effect will certainly run their natural course. We therefore end with a passage of scripture that reiterates this very point, and it is the will of God that His word may abide in our hearts, to guide us with wisdom and discretion in all the ways of His choosing. Let's read:
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
