2nd Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
This passage of scripture warns us against the many private interpretations to the scriptures which abound in our world today, and the verses also confirm to our minds the sacred truth that all scripture is inspired of God, and as such comes down to us as an indivisible whole. Many Christians believe that the old testament is no longer valid, and for this reason they focus their research and studies on the new testament alone. Others believe that the God of the old testament was the Father, who according to this erroneous view, is strict and severe, whereas Jesus Christ is more merciful and kind.
These errant views are all the result of private interpretations and should be avoided under all circumstances, because the God of the old testament is none other than Jesus Christ, and the bulk of the Bible is the old testament. Furthermore it is impossible to study the new testament and arrive at correct conclusions, without a study of the old, because the old testament points forward to the new, and many of the prophecies pointing us to Christ, that were given by the prophets in the old testament, find their fulfillment in the new testament, hence the reason why the passage for today says we have a "More sure" word of prophecy. Let's read:
John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
1st Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
One of the reasons why multitudinous private interpretations of scripture abound, is because of the proliferation of different versions of the Bible, of which there are now over several hundred, and many of them contain serious errors and many omissions, which put a different spin on the plainest utterances of God. This is the reason why on this forum, the king James version is used for references purposes, to avoid the snare of conflicting statements by other versions, some of which teach falsehoods. This is not to say that the king James version is the only one that can be used, but the utmost care must be taken when interpreting all versions, to make certain that we arrive at safe and correct conclusions.
With the rise of gay marriage in America, attempts are being made to make the original canon of scripture politically correct, and because of this the Bible as we have known it for hundreds of years is being rewritten to be more inclusive and gender friendly, in order to obscure what God had clearly stated on homosexuality being a heinous sin. The latest effort to manipulate the Bible and to twist it out of context can be found in the queen James Bible, which has been specially adapted to gays and lesbians, who are determined to eradicate the law of God which condemns sinful behaviors. The following excerpt is taken from the Huffington post, and gives us in precis form, the advances being made by satanic agencies towards this end. Let's read:
"In an effort to resolve "long-standing interpretive ambiguity in key Bible passages regarding homosexuality" a new version of the classic King James Bible -- this one titled The Queen James Bible -- claims to be the first ever gay friendly Bible to correctly translate the Christian scriptures"..... "The edits all confirm that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, and therefore renders such interpretations impossible."
The Scriptures do warn us that a time of great spiritual darkness will come across the land, and according to what we are seeing transpiring before our eyes, we can safely conclude that the time spoken of is here already. It therefore behooves us to study the original word of God for ourselves, and to have its sacred teachings etched indelibly into our consciences, so that we may not be swayed by the ominous appearance of doctrines of devils, disseminated through human agencies, who are averse to God and all righteousness.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which encourages us to study as never before, because the times of great spiritual darkness are right at our doorsteps. Let's read:
Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
