This Gospel Of The Kingdom. 06/19/2015 (Evening thought)

Matthew 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

This passage of scripture contains the prophecy pertaining to the time in earth's history when the work of salvation will be finished, and the words of Christ here spoken clearly state that this gospel of the kingdom must be preached in all the world first, and then the end will come. The reason for this is so that every member of the human family might have the opportunity to see and understand present truth as it is in Christ Jesus, and hopefully we all may make that all-important decision to be saved by His grace.

The question then is, what constitutes "This gospel of the kingdom?". The answer to this question must be made clear, for there are many other "Gospels" that have surfaced recently, which have absolutely no relation to "This Gospel of the kingdom", and thus it has become necessary to differentiate between them. Global warming, income inequality, and the care for the poor are not what this gospel of the kingdom is all about, for even though these issues are addressed separately in the scriptures, yet the main thrust of the gospel in our day is the keeping of the commandments of God, together with the faith of Jesus, and also the solemn warning that human probation is soon to close. Let's read:

Revelation 14:6  And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,  7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.  8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,  10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation"....

There is absolutely nothing in these verses which speak of global warming, or income inequality, and therefore these issues that are being put on the front burner by the world's most prominent religious and secular leaders, constitute a serious distraction from the all-important issues that pertain to our eternal destiny. While these things may have some merit in their legitimate sphere, yet they tend to draw our minds away from the issues of eternal moment, and thus they are described as deceptions of the last days.

One day whilst Christ was preaching, a man disturbed His sermon to present an issue of "Income inequality" that had erupted between himself and his brother, and with no regards to the important truths that Jesus was then presenting to the hungering multitudes, the man blurted out his grievances to Christ, hoping for a resolve that would put some funds into his own pocket. But Jesus offered instead a rebuke to the sin of covetousness which both the man and his brother were suffering from, which teaches us the important spiritual lesson that temporal, social issues such as minimum wage and income inequality, should never to be permitted to interfere or encroach upon the presentation of "This gospel of the kingdom", whilst the issues of the law of God, and the close of probation are hardly, if ever mentioned. Let's read:

Luke 12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.  14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?  15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Let us therefore be very careful, lest our focus be imperceptibly removed from off of Christ, and we end up wondering after the beast, with its smooth talking social agenda. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which reminds us of the grave importance of obeying all the commandments of God, especially in our day, where the sacred institutions are now being trampled in the dust by the man of sin, and the multitudes who follow in his train. Let's read:

Revelation 22:12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.  14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.  16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches"....

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
