When We Run Out Of "Bullets". 12/05/2015 (Evening thought)

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.  It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

The following is an excerpt from the CNN headline news yesterday, and if we be wise and not asleep as others, it will do us well to ponder where we are headed in the long running marathon of earth's history, and what should be done for us to live in readiness. Let's read:

The U.S. is running out of bombs to drop on ISIS.

Washington (CNN)The U.S. Air Force has fired off more than 20,000 missiles and bombs since the U.S. bombing campaign against ISIS began 15 months ago, according to the Air Force, leading to depleted munitions stockpiles and calls to ramp up funding and weapons production. As the U.S. ramps up its campaign against the Islamist terror group in Iraq and Syria, the Air Force is now "expending munitions faster than we can replenish them," Air Force chief of staff Gen. Mark Welsh said in a statement. The official told CNN that the Air Force has requested additional funding for Hellfire missiles and is developing plans to ramp up weapons production to replenish its stocks more quickly. But replenishing that stock can take "up to four years from time of expenditure to asset resupply," the official said.

It is obvious, even to the casual reader that we have already entered a new era in our history as a nation, and as a people, for we are now hedged in with dangers on every side, this being confirmed by the most recent attack in California. However, we are going to recap what was said on this forum the fatal week of June 26th 2015, when as a nation we embraced and also endorsed same-sex marriage, in the most outrageous affront to the authority of God so far. At that time we stated that the decision to repudiate God-ordained marriage was not only one of the most terrible mistakes made nationally, but the real tragedy is that the action by the courts was the triggering mechanism that let loose billions of evil spirits across the land, since God's restraining power over the invisible forces of evil was withdrawn to a large degree at that time.

There is one problem with the statements we then made, in that there is no scientific proof to validate what was said, and we cannot draw a direct line in the sand, from root cause to effect. The reason for this absence of scientific data to support our conclusions, is because what was said was not based on man's science, but rather on faith in the immutable word of God. Thus, in harmony with our deductions from the scriptures we now present additional portions of holy writ, so that the word of God may speak for itself on these matters. Let's read:

Isaiah 24:2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Yesterday's headlines on the New York Daily News was also pretty cryptic, for on the front page in bold characters were the following words emblazoned:

God Isn’t Fixing This,” trumpets today's headline in “The New York Daily News,” apparently in response to some politicians’ promises of prayers for the victims of the horrific shootings in San Bernardino yesterday, only the lastest in a string of mass murders. Prayer is a natural human impulse. In times of tragedy, it is impossible not to cry out to God in pain. And God, who is all compassion, hears and attends these prayers. And then, again, God responds to these prayers not only through inner consolations, but by urging us to act. In prayer, we can hear God’s voice more clearly. And that voice says, “Do something.”

Question: What Is the Biblical view on the matter? Answer: Even though it does hurt the heart of God to see so much unending human tragedy, yet He has, and He never will, move the goal posts pertaining to what actually needs to be done to secure a reversal of our national misfortunes. In fact, as it stands right now, the headlines are indeed true, for He is not listening to our national prayers for deliverance from our most determined foes. And the reason for this is given in the scriptures, if anyone may dare to read. Let's read:

Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Thus it is, that we may cry a river of tears, and we may appeal with words of solemn pathos, but unless the necessary reforms are put in place, and unless we humble ourselves like the Ninevites of old, there is but only one verdict for us nationally, for many more will perish at the brutal hands of satanic agencies, a spiritual fact that science and philosophy has so far refused to acknowledge. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which gently reminds us that our safety lies not in the size and quantity of war chests, but in the mercies and providence of a covenant-keeping God, and it is His will that both politicians and religious leaders now take the vital steps in repentance to stop the national bleeding. Let's read:

Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord. 31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
