Why Only Eight Living Antedilvians Were Saved. 10/09/2015 (Morning thought)

Genesis 7:1 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

This passage of scripture teaches us the reasons why only eight persons were saved alive during the time of the flood, and it is because righteousness had all but been banished from the earth. Wickedness was consecrated as a religion, and so many of earth's inhabitants had turned their backs on God, that it was for their own good that destruction was brought upon the face of the earth, for as is stated in several other verses, all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth, just leaving Noah and his family as museum pieces, not to be admired, but to be ridiculed and heckled by the sin-loving multitudes.

Now, it's worthy of mention here, that many of the people of Noah's day who had believed his preaching, died before the flood, and as such, they will be saved in God's kingdom when He comes. For instance Adam and Eve, Abel, and Methuselah, and many others who lived before the flood, and who had chosen God as their Sovereign, were laid to rest before the deluge, and because of this, there will be in heaven, many giant human beings, the likes of which we have never seen.

However, at the time of the flood, there were only to be found eight believers, who held on to the truth, and the prophecies of Noah, while the rest of the earth laughed them to scorn. Of particular importance is the fact that at that time, the marriage institution had been perverted to include polygamy and adultery of all sorts, with other abominable practices too gross to mention. And according to the scriptures, we in our day are scheduled to repeat the very same mistakes, and to meet the very same fate, if radical changes in our behaviors, and our current laws are not made pretty soon. Let's read:

[Patriarchs And Prophets pp. 337>338] The violation of the seventh commandment also was early practiced in the name of religion. The most licentious and abominable rites were made a part of the heathen worship. The gods themselves were represented as impure, and their worshipers gave the rein to the baser passions. Unnatural vices prevailed and the religious festivals were characterized by universal and open impurity.

Polygamy was practiced at an early date. It was one of the sins that brought the wrath of God upon the antediluvian world. Yet after the Flood it again became widespread. It was Satan’s studied effort to pervert the marriage institution, to weaken its obligations and lessen its sacredness; for in no surer way could he deface the image of God in man and open the door to misery and vice.

Now, in spite of all that has been revealed in the scriptures, pertaining to the perversion of the marriage institution, we in our day have gone a step further by making it the law of the land, as if to poke our unholy fingers in the apple of God's eyes. And so many politicians and religious folk have now joined the movement that it is now believed by the overwhelming majority of people, that, not only is it right to practice alternative lifestyles, but that they who do such things will be saved in God's kingdom.

But the Bible signally rejects any such doctrine, both by precept and example, for as we observe the passengers on Noah's boat, we do not see a single gay person or couple on the inside, nor do we see any animals of the same sex being saved, for the future population of the earth. Let's read:

Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

Let us therefore settle it once and for all in our hearts, that God is never going to change the goal posts to save any human being, nor is He going to accept our own brand of righteousness for any reason, so we may as well appropriate the counsels and warnings of His word, while there is still opportunity for change. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which shows us in the plainest terms, who will be saved, and who will not be granted entrance into Christ's eternal kingdom of glory, and it is the will of God that we now choose wisely, so as not to be found wanting when the day of final accounts arrives. Let's read:

1st Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
