The Close Of Human Probation. 01/10/2015 (Evening thought)

Revelation 22:11  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

This announcement as made by Christ will bring to a permanent close the probationary period in which grace has been freely proffered to all members of the human family, and when the final, solemn declaration has been made, there will be no more opportunity to accept the gift of salvation, purchased for us on Calvary. This world as we know it cannot continue forever, for there is too much violence and bloodshed, and too much wickedness and unbridled iniquity in places high and low, so God has to bring this chapter of our experience to a close.

Many people are not aware that we are now living on the brink of eternity, and because of this many are living with reference to profits and pleasures to be enjoyed in the future, building and marrying, and investing and planning, with no clue that the day of God is stealing upon us. The attitudes and activities that are currently manifested were actually predicted by Christ as He sat upon the mount of Olives, declaring the things that will transpire just before His return. The disturbing thought about the prophecies then given is that the world will be in a state of slumber and spiritual darkness, so that when the announcement is made in the heavens by Christ, no one who is not found in Christ will know. Let's read:

Luke 17:26  And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.  28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;  29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

1st Thessalonians 5:1  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

To the time here spoken of we are now hastening with lightening speed, and thus it behooves us to live in readiness, being sober and abiding in Christ, so that whatsoever may come our way unexpectedly, we will be found without spot and blameless.

The current and ongoing threat of terrorism, together with the global threat of cyber crime, and the rapidly declining moral fabric of society, will soon call for an international convention of world leaders, and the results of those meetings will be the institution of an international system of religion and monetary policy, which will be deemed necessary to effectively combat the threat of global extremism and moral decay. But in so doing, the devil will subtly introduce the mark of the beast, and then all those who subscribe to the religious and economic dogmas then instituted will permanently separate themselves from God, never more to be reinstated into His favor.

We are now living dangerously close to the end of human probation, and The God of heaven is just about to finish the work of righteousness in our hearts, so that all who desire to be saved can do so, even while the sun is setting on our day of grace. We therefore end with an appeal from God to each individual living on the planet, not to put off for tomorrow, the decisions that can change our lives for eternity, but let us rather rise to the occasion, and accept His offers of grace while time still lingers. Let's read:

Revelation 22:16  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.  17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
