Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
"And God Said". These three little words form the cornerstone of the history of our planet Earth, and the beginnings of sun, moon and stars. These three little words have often been the subject of fierce debates, as it pertains to the theory of evolution versus the creation of the world by an omnipotent, omniscient God. Just this week, we observed with deep interest, the many questions and answers between Ken Ham and Bill Nye, pertaining to the origins of species. Even amongst Christians, there are some who believe that the worlds were always in existence before creation week, and that over a period of time, God brought order out of chaos. The Bible which is the final authority to those who believe, sets the record straight by simply stating a profound fact, "And God Said". These three little words are loaded with information and implications that eclipse science as we know it. By the way, speaking of science, one of the attributes of God is omniscience, or better yet, omni-science, which refers to the unlimited and extensive knowledge of all sciences held by God, of which we know very little. One of the issues associated with God's omniscience and omnipotence, is the Biblical truth that God does not need pre-existing matter in order to create. Jesus Christ whom we serve is able, by His executive power, to call worlds out of thin air and bring into existence, planets without using any raw materials. The word of God is crystal clear on this point. let's read:
Psalms 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The apostle Paul also reiterates the same sacred truth in the book of Hebrews. Let's read:
Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
These and other similar scriptures clearly bring to view the means by which the worlds came in to existence. In our world today, the theory of evolution is widely accepted and taught without regard to the plain testimony of scripture. Those who adhere to this theory have, for all intents and purposes removed God from His creation, and by doing so have inadvertently, or deliberately, put a limit on what God can do. As Christians, we need to be very careful lest the theories and suppositions of scientific research, invade our thinking, thereby causing us to lose faith in the living God, by placing a limit on what He can do. In the not too distant future, the same God who is now ridiculed and made the sport of by many so called philosophers, will touch nature in a way that will defy all scientific knowledge as we know it, and will cause events to take place in the starry heavens and upon the earth, for which there will be no scientific explanations. This is what the word of God predicts, and it will certainly come to pass. Let's read:
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
It behooves us then, both believers and skeptics to take note of what is written in the word of God, since many of the prophecies of the Bible have already been fulfilled and verified historically. The Lord therefore invites everyone on planet Earth to come to a saving knowledge of Himself, while we still have opportunity to do so, and we also sincerely beseech every individual, for Christ's sake, to be reconciled to God. May the Omnipotent, Omniscient God, be the God of our lives that we may experience for ourselves, His limitless possibilities. "Good night" and God bless!
